Should I go on a holiday/live in London if I’m Asian?
ok
look I don’t think ALL the English are racists and I really love London, the people there and their accents, foods, architecture and of course the crazy cool fashion. But I’m concerned cause I heard quite a few (not say all!!) English people are really racist towards Asians. Is it because England isn’t multicultural like other countries such as Australia and USA? Please I’m not trying to generalize at all!! I just need an honest opinion whether to go there for a holiday/live there.

I’m not sure if you’re being serious or not: London has a massive Asian population, it’s the multi-cultural city in the world and you won’t run in to any problems at all.
Yes I think you should go. On the whole English people are not racist at all (of course there is going to be a few ignorant people, but you will find them in every country of the world) It is also a very multicultural society with many people from different races, including Asian who come and live here quite happily. If you are planning on coming to live in England, as long as you are willing to work the vast majority of people will not have a problem with you.
Good luck
:)
NO! There’s loads of Asians living in the UK, not just youuu :)
Don’t worry, it’ll be fine! By the way, I’m white and I have got a few best friends that are asians, we are not at all racist. x
I’m English and nobody cares what nationality you are and if they are racist its only because they’re bored and think that they are cool. which they are not.
umm, i think u should go
its an awesome place
im asian and i’ve been to london countless of times without hearing any racist jokes or stuff like those
u should go
and they’re broadways are awesome
go watch them
XD
I think there’s a lot multi-culture visitor/tourist in London. I think u should go and having no problem at all. They nice but sometimes they can be racist prick. And ur right, English is pretty serious about foreigner coming to they country especially middle east people. Well just go having fun there and enjoy ur holidays.
In the big cities, you will be fine.
The places where you will start to encounter problems would be the smaller, mainly working class towns, like Oldham, Burnley, Rochdale, where there have been lots of trouble, with different races rioting with each other, and no go areas of the towns for certain races.
This is due mainly because of large influxes of foreign workers in the industrial revolution to these towns, but the immigrants have never integrated, and become part of our culture, and it’s split the towns into sections, and there is a lot of racial tension
Well, London is quite multicultural compared to the rest of the UK. So you do not need to worry so much about racism if u want to live/holiday there. If you think someone is being racist towards you, just give them a slap. lol
I don’t understand your question … there are loads of south Asian people living in London from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc etc … in fact in certain areas they are the majority of the population … most of the time they are really well integrated and have no problems at all … obviously there are a few who do experience problems but there are always people who hit problems sometimes, just a fact of life
you’d be very welcome to come on holiday … however coming to work and live right at the moment is very difficult … partly because you’d need a work visa to do that, and they are difficult to get, you’d have to be well qualified … and partly because this recession means that our unemployment rate is rising alarmingly and lots of people here are already out of work
I’m not entirely sure who you’ve been talking to but you haven’t really got the correct impression of London, or England as a whole for that matter. We’re not still stuck in the nineteenth century you know! London is extremely multicultural and there are many, many people of Asian origin living here. As Carina said, in some areas of London people from the various Asian communities can make up 80%+ of the local population. Furthermore, I’ve traveled extensively over the US and Australia and London is undoubtedly more multicultural than either of those places. If you were to come here you wouldn’t have any problems - you’d just be another face in an already very varied crowd.
