How come U.S school don’t consider Chinese New Year a holiday to get days off for?

i mean…we get days off for jewish holidays and stuff. and its not like there are SO MANY jewish people either. or its not like the asian population is absolutely miniscule. so why isnt it being recognized?

i dont know maybe they dont care about this holiday and not that much people care about it

well in some places they do,but there has to be a very high concentration of chinese people. i use to live in a place where there were lots of chinese people and we did get off for chinese new year but when i moved to another town where almost everyone was white (it was the whitest town i’ve ever seen) there weren’t enough chinese people to celebrate chinese new year. so yeah it depends on where you live.

In our School district there are no holidays for Jewish holidays either . . but Jewish is a religion not another country . . I would not expect one country to celibrate the new year of another country . .

You know what, there are many Jewish people in the US. Yes, the Asian population is not minuscule. In fact, I consider it overwhelming, but the problem is “Asian” does not only mean “Chinese.” Asians are Chinese, Indians, Malays, Filipinos, Koreans, Japanese, Thais, etc. — and how many of them celebrate the Chinese new year? Not overwhelming enough to warrant a holiday.
